During the turbulent late sixties, youngster Danny Coyne and his family move from the city of Glasgow to the suburbs. There he discovers real friendship and religious bigotry in equal measure. Danny and Ray quickly learn to survive everything that life has to throw at them, until a run in with a local gang irrevocably alters both of their lives forever. Blind fury leads Danny to be covertly recruited by an element of the Provisional IRA. Trained to become a sleeper agent by the shady SA, he finds his path carved in blood and stone. Events are snatched from his control and Danny finds himself a pawn in an even deadlier game
From Glasgow to Ghost edition by Gerry Cassidy Natasha Gunn Literature Fiction eBooks
From Glasgow to Ghost is a strong novel for a first time author. It has enough twists and turns to keep the reader intrigued and its pace, although not frantic is never dull. Gerry Cassidy weaves a very believable tale of a young man's seduction into terrorism after years of oppression. He highlights the odious and hateful religious bigotry which grips his native Scotland like a cancerous growth, even to this day and skillfully uses this as a backdrop for his main character, 'Danny Coyne' to fall from grace. Secret dealings and transcontinental flights ensue where Danny desperately tries to reconcile his blemished soul and find his lost humanity. The reader is inside Danny's head every step of his agonizing journey which culminates in an unexpected and dramatic finish. The dark nature of the story is offset by the author's infectious humour, which are at times laugh out loud. From Glasgow to Ghost is a very original yarn and above all, a great read. Gerry Cassidy's down to earth style is instantly readable and speaks directly to the reader. This reveiwer for one will be eager to see his forthcoming novels.Product details
