In order for the black man to change the stereotype the individual must understand his own self-image, possess self-esteem, have a strong internal locus of control, have family support, and, have the willingness to grow personally and intellectually. Hamilton Raymond comes from a background where he saw the actions of young man his age did not foster success. After going through a life changing experience Hamilton decided to devote his life to finding out the barriers between young black men and the pursuit of higher education.
